I never really share personal details about my life here on instagram. but i felt that my experiences over the last few months are something i wanted to talk about.
as some of you may remember my mum became ill back in april and i spent some time in italy with her and my family as she underwent surgery for a glioblastoma brain tumor. if you're familiar with this kind of tumor then you'll know it's very aggressive and sadly on july 25th my amazing mum lost her battle with cancer. yesterday we celebrated her life with friends and family and so this feels like the right time to share what happened. she was always my biggest supporter and my inspiration to pursue art and so it only feels appropriate that i should pay tribute to her on this platform. she was an art teacher and i grew up drawing from a very young age with her help which really started my passion for art. a week before she passed away she asked me to paint her a mandala in her happy colours that she could have on the wall in her room to cheer her up when she was struggling. this is the piece that i made for her. she was an absolutely incredible and positive person and even in the final months she made a point of saying how lucky she was and how much she had to be greatful for in her life.
this is a trate that i feel i was very fortunate to inherit from her. i consider myself incredibly lucky to have a career that aside from generating an income is also a wonderful creative outlet for me and brings me a lot of happiness and harmony.
together with my dad and sister we have created a just giving page and aim to raise £10,000 for the brain tumor charity in the hopes that we can aid in the understanding of this cruel disease. this is just a starting point and i hope that in the years to come we can greatly surpass this amount. i'm sharing a link for the page here and i'll be putting it on my profile too. if anybody feels moved to donate to our cause i would be incredibly greatful for any amount, no matter how small.
i will also be releasing a run of prints of this piece in a few weeks and 100% of the profits will go to our cause.
