“I believe that beautiful environments allow you to cultivate a more creative, richer life,” says @karacotta_ceramics founder Kara Pendl, whose handmade pieces are inspired by colorful natural landscapes. 🌳🌷🏞 “So even if you may not be able to afford your dream home right now,” the Austin-based designer says, “you can have a beautiful porcelain tumbler with a 22-karat-gold rim to drink your coffee out of every morning. That can bring the same vibrancy and joy.” 🥰

“The idea of @byhumankind is that every routine has an impact,” says Josh Goodman, co-founder, with Brian Bushell, of the eco-minded personal care brand. 🧼🚿Josh and Brian launched their company in 2019, working with chemists to create products like shampoo, conditioner, hand soap, deodorant and body wash that are as earth-friendly as they are chic and functional. “You don’t have to sacrifice quality or convenience to do better in your morning ritual,” says Brian. ♻️🌍🧼

Two weeks ago Johannes Quodt and Chris Wichert, founders of Italian leather sneaker brand @koio, did some quick thinking. “Our shoes are for social moments,” says Johannes. “Like going out on a date or to an event or to work—and that’s not happening right now.” 👟💼👟So the duo embraced the moment and created a slipper. And not just any slipper, but one inspired by a design, handmade in the alpine region of Italy, that Johannes has worn for over 20 years. 🌄“They’re made from sheep wool, so they’re totally natural and can cool when your feet are warm and warm when your feet are cold,” he says. “We’re making little Work from Home care packages—each pair of slippers comes with a pair of tube socks.” 🐑🧦🐑

“We have so many different emotions going on right now, and tea helps balance them,” says Laura Cepeda, founder of @modestineteas, the Harlem-based herbal and Ayurvedic tea brand. 🍵Laura’s grandmother (and the brand’s namesake) Modestine taught her about tea meditations when she was just nine years old. Now Laura’s soothing blends—like the appropriately named Don’t Stress Me—loaded with honey bush and lemongrass are a testament to that same mind-body-spirit approach. 🌿 “Tea gets you into a place of oneness with yourself,” she says. “Coffee is really quick: Let's get this! Tea is different. It’s about taking it slow.

Emmett Shine wants your kitchen to be a sanctuary. That was the idea behind @getequalparts, the line of simple, thoughtfully designed cookware he co-founded last September for home cooks who see making meals as a zen activity. 🧘🍳🧘🏾‍♀️🥘“We want the kitchen to be the place in our homes where our email notifications won’t constantly follow us around,” he says. Equal Parts offers streamlined sets of pots and pans that were created with small apartment spaces in mind, along with kitchen staples like a sturdy chef’s knife and a sleek cutting board. As Emmett says, “Put some music on, pour a glass of wine and just start chopping.” 🥒🍠🥒

“We realized that all robes looked the same—we wanted to do something more creative,” say @bathenshop co-founders Emily Painter, Elisiana Diaz-Martin and Hannah Zisman. Combining a vibrant after-bath aesthetic with ethical production practices, the collection’s 100 percent cotton robes, scrunchies and bags are inspired by traditional Central American textiles and handwoven by artisans in Guatemala and India. 🌈“People can lounge around in them and wear them in all seasons,” say the founders. “They’re very breathable and soft.” 🧖🏾‍♀️🛀🏾🧖🏼‍♀️

“I joke that I wear these sweatpants out on a date with my husband, sleep in them and then wake up and take my kids out in them,” says @lhll.brand’s Rebecca Ravenna. The sweats in question are one of her most popular styles: cropped at just the right spot on the ankle and, as Rebecca says, “incredibly soft and well-made.” They’re basically the equivalent of your favorite vintage band tee in pant form—and that was entirely intentional. A self-confessed music nerd, Rebecca got the name of her brand (it stands for Little High, Little Low) from a Queen song, but if she had to choose one concert to have experienced from the front row, “it would have been Nirvana, on ‘MTV Unplugged,’ hands down.” 🤘🏼🎸🤘🏿#femalefounders

A rained-out vacation at Yosemite National Park led @pieceworkpuzzles co-founder Rachel Hochhauser to discover a new professional calling. “I found a jigsaw puzzle in a closet in my cabin,” she says. “I started doing it with a cheese board and a glass of wine—and it was so restorative! I started bringing one on every trip.” 🧩🧀 🍷 But Rachel says she had trouble finding puzzles that weren’t just “a jar of buttons or a wizard in a mystical wood,” so she and her friend and business partner, Jena Wolfe, started making their own. Launched last July, @pieceworkpuzzles are designed to look as good as the art books you have piled on your coffee table—a far cry from button jars and wizards. 🧩🧙🏼‍♂️🧩 #femalefounders

“I'm a sunglasses collector—‘collector’ sounds better than ‘hoarder,’ ” says @alyssainthecity’s Alyssa Coscarelli. “I’m always trying to find the perfect pair.” 😎 So when @apercueyewear founder Kristen Aronsson reached out to Alyssa about working on a capsule, she jumped at the chance. “I went to the Aperçu office and looked at the catalogs of all the lenses and acetates that we could play with—it was insane,” she says. The result of their collaboration, which launches today, is what Kristen calls a “vintage-inspired rectangle—sweet, chic and a bit edgy, just like Alyssa.” 🕶💚🕶 #femalefounders

Whether it’s a pizza-shaped clutch or a bright green alien bag charm, there’s an unmistakable sense of whimsy in all things @gelarehmizrahi. 🍕👽 🍕Since launching in 2013 with her Thank You bodega bags—an upscale riff on your average corner deli takeaway—the designer has let her creativity take her in different directions, from pins to wallets to swimsuits to skateboards. 🛹 🏊🏼‍♀️ “It’s wild to see how all over the place my customers are,” admits Gelareh. “Young street-style boys come in and say, ‘We want the stickers and T-shirts. This is so dope!’ But 40-to-50-year-old women come in too, and younger girls love the charms and keychains.” Whatever your pleasure, a @gelarehmizrahi piece makes a statement. “I wanted to take something ordinary and elevate it,” she says. “That’s where everything comes from.” 👚🔑🛍
