The grand launch of a prepaid debit identification card by the nigerian association of chambers of commerce, industry, mines and agriculture (naccima) in collaboration with unity bank and first bank took place on tuesday 11 december 2018 at civic centre victoria island, lagos nigeria.
the unique card scheme, operates on both the unity bank master card and first bank visa financial platform as well as nigeria's interswitch network. as unveiled, it has nacimma’s branded logo and the company ceo's photo identification format to boost authenticity of members and enhance global financial transactions.
the national president of naccima iyalode alaba lawson mfr fiod jp said the initiative is to prioritise members businesses and verify their identification worldwide in an information communication technology (ict) era. this innovation according to lawson has placed naccima ahead as the voice of businesses in nigeria and foregrounding its position as the umbrella body of businesses.
chairman it training committe of naccima, chief charles okeke, said the innovation was borne out of running business with the global trend of information technology. okeke said holders of naccima debit card will have seamless transaction nationally and internationally including helping all city chambers develop due to its authenticity.
tomi somefun, md/ceo unity bank, identified naccima's initiative to enrich both oragnisations and aid ease of doing business for members of naccima.
executive director, business development & compliance for unity bank, usman abdulquadir said he is impressed with the innovate nature between naccima and unity bank, while stating that the debit card is globally recorgnised.
the naccima debit card is the first of its kind in nigeria.
