This march i had taken some time out and headed to the mountains thinking that i would finish some of my pending work from there minus the city hustle. and since it happened to be snowing around that time, we collectively decided to go for a trek despite being told to not head out as the conditions were not really good and little did i know that this particular getaway of mine would put in a fix for the whole of april.
the ground was covered with snow and walking was getting more difficult with every step. just to avoid a big chunk of ice, i ended up overstepping and sprained my foot very badly.
didn't realize much at that time but later that particular foot started causing problems. walking became difficult, running became almost impossible. got referred to a hospital, went through multiple scans and check-ups which later lead to bed rest and being in the hospital for a few days. i had to cancel work commitments and the injury ended up taking a huge chunk out of my savings!
and this one thing made me realize that no matter how much i love the nomadic life and its rawness, it's always better with some amazing planning and security to it. getting myself a travel insurance was the most sensible thing i could do, so that if any medical emergency arises, the bills are taken care of without being really heavy on pocket.
this was my story. have you come across something like this in your life while traveling?
